Her Story

This is the story of a girl who discovered the strength within herself to navigate life’s crashing waves.

Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in your own emotions? I have. This realization often comes to mind when I think about sharing my journey. But here we go.

She embodies the full spectrum of life’s experiences, having initiated herself into new beginnings more times than she can count. This is the story of a girl who embraced her spiritual awakening with a resounding YES.

Even as a child, the world felt overwhelmingly vast to me. I often wondered where my sensitive soul fit in. I was observant, preferring to watch rather than participate, as being the center of attention was nothing short of terrifying.

I clung to stories from my past, epic sagas that shaped me. They allowed me to unravel, to explore both darkness and light, to understand what it means to be a spiritual being in human form. I longed to run away, to hide, to avoid fully showing up as myself. But I learned to let go of that fear. Growing up, I felt unaccepted for my quirky, unorthodox nature. I didn’t care for the world others hyped up — sports, politics, TV shows. Does that sound familiar to you?

I never followed the crowd. Whenever I tried, an inner voice guided me to break free. As a rebellious youth, I felt confined, yet now I understand that I am already free and continually redefining what that freedom means.

The story of my past, with all its epic sagas, begins here. A genuine exploration of self, spirit, and soul that I’ve left in its raw form as a practice in embracing imperfections.

My first significant relationship was with my mother, Patricia. Loving her was one of the most challenging but heartfelt journeys toward growth. I sought depth and connection with her, yearning for love in my own love language. Over time, I learned to accept our bond for what it was. Revolutionary, isn’t it? To love someone the way you’ve always desired to be loved. About seven years ago, with the guidance of a medicine teacher, I realized I needed to let go of the trauma I clung to. I wrote letters to my family, seeking forgiveness. But in truth, I was forgiving myself. This act of vulnerability transformed my relationship with my mother. It opened a portal of acceptance and taught me the courage to ask for help, even when it felt terrifying.

Relationships with family are precious and abundant if we allow them to be. Sharing our vulnerabilities, asking deeper questions, and being present to love is the most potent medicine.

In my youth, I sought love from another human, but it was tumultuous and sad. My worth was measured by others, not by my own view of myself. Have you ever felt trapped in seeking validation outside yourself? I did, and it led me down a path of numbness and promiscuity. But the lesson I learned was invaluable: Love is found within. My worth is set by self-acceptance, curiosity, and light within my soul.

The great shift to power began when I volunteered at a yoga studio. As my responsibilities grew, so did my sense of self. I found my voice, but I was also silenced when I challenged norms. This led me to leave and enroll in a life coaching course. The universe conspired with me as I took a leap into the unknown. And with each step, I found joy, expansion, and trust.

Reflecting on my journey, I remember the leap of faith I took a decade ago, moving across the country with a dear love to start anew. It was a refreshing and exciting chapter. How about you? Where has your journey taken you? Let’s continue to learn, grow, and evolve together.
